Travel and Housing Information

This year, we recommend that you arrive on Saturday, July 16, and leave later in the evening on Saturday, July 30th, after the moleben and commencement, or on Sunday, July 31st.  If you do arrive on Sunday, July 17, please make sure to arrive in time to attend our moleben (held at the main Convent church at Novo Diveyevo at 2 pm)  and introductory session (held in the Convent’s dining hall, immediately after the moleben). IMPORTANT: If you are arriving on Saturday, please let us know as soon as possible, so that we can let the Convent’s Abbess know and ensure that the room is ready for you.

Housing

Unless other arrangements have been made, students will be housed at the student dorm (formerly the Convent’s nursing home), and take all meals at the SSLM dining room in the same complex. All students in the dorms will have single rooms, with shared bathrooms on the floor (there are several bathrooms and numerous showers). All rooms are either air conditioned or have fans, with new bedding. While the dorm is not the Ritz, we will do what we can to make your lives comfortable – let us know immediately if you have any problems/concerns with the accommodations.

Your room assignment will be available upon arrival.

Please note that the dorm space is on the first floor of a building in which the Convent’s sisters live (on the second floor), so we will ask for quiet and respectful behavior in the evenings in order not to disturb them.

Travel

If you need assistance getting to Novo Diveyevo, please let us know your arrival ASAP (including time, flight/train numbers, etc.), so that we can coordinate pick-ups, by contacting Valentina Shatalova at vshatalova@earthlink.net.

If you plan to fly, please arrange to fly into Newark International Airport or LaGuardia. JFK is also an option, though less convenient.

There is a train running directly to Nanuet (see schedule below), two miles away from the convent; alternatively, you may take MetroNorth going to Tarrytown. While there should be taxis/Uber in the area, if you need to be picked up please do contact vshatalova@earthlink.net.

As far as we are aware, at the moment there is no bus transportation, due to Covid-19 disruptions, but if this changes we will let you know.
